Shaggy Moving: A Story 

          I know it's a cliche, but I'm gonna do it anyway. I'm going to tell you why Shaggy Moving exists, what our goals are and all that. But I promise it'll be interesting (at least more than these things usually are).

          Every business idea starts with a question. Mine was this: Why hasn't anyone started a moving company that primarily targets those who refer it? After all, referrals are the lifeblood of the industry.

          It's a question with a simple answer - the customer is supposed to be king. Which makes sense. But - for the sake of argument - what if they weren't the only king? Don't get me wrong, the customer is extremely important. No business will last with consistently unsatisfied customers. So they’re a king too.

          The primary benefit to a happy customer is their word of mouth referral to their friends. Which is fantastic. But it occurred to me that those referrals could also be targeted in a more direct, streamlined, and sustainable manner.

         After scouring the internet, I couldn’t find a moving company that gave more than 5% commission for referrals in the entire country. That was crazy to me. I doubled that. And added a $30 guaranteed minimum per successful referral.

          If you’re a realtor, property manager, storage unit manager, or otherwise work with clients that frequently need moving services, you deserve special treatment from at least one company. This is that company.
